What are the most beautiful highlights in Yunnan?
Praised as the “Tourist Paradise”, Yunnan, can be roughly divided into 4 large areas based on the distribution of tourism resources.
The northwest region, neighboring Tibet, is currently the most famous destinations. As popular attractions, Dali, Lijiang, Shangri-La, which are the important cities of the Ancient Tea and Horse Road, combine the natural scenery with diverse culture: majestic snow-capped mountains, amazing lakes, quaint old towns, authentic villages, lively local markets, and exciting ethnic festivals, to attract tourists come here for sightseeing every year.
Central Yunnan and the northeastern region are centered on Kunming, the provincial capital. Stone forest, Dongchuan Red lands, and canola fields of Luoping are the required subjects of photographers.
The tropical forest, tea culture, wide life of Xishuangbanna, breathtaking and heavenly rice terraces by Hani, rich and exotic markets of Yuanyang, “little Guilin” of Puzhehei, named by Yi people, which is typical karst landforms, are the famous South attractions.
The western region is along the Myanmar border. The attractions here, such as Tengchong, Nujiang, are relatively untraversed but wonderful. They are not to be missed by in-depth travelers in Yunnan.
Besides, the unique ethnic customs make these places even better than modern cities like Beijing or Shanghai. Bai people, Tie-dyeing, March Street over one thousand years in Dali; Naxi, using the pictographs and worshiping the Nature, live in Lijiang; Graceful Dai ladies, dressing traditional clothes, are the heroines of photographers, etc.
