Kham Region
Kangba Tibetan Area is one of China’s three largest Tibetan settlements in China and is distributed in Tibet, Yunnan, Sichuan, Gansu, and Qinghai provinces. Because of the unique geographical environment, the natural scenery is magnificent and beautiful, and the unique ethnic customs and colorful ethnic festivals, Kangba is worth to be visited.
Tagong
Tagong in Tibetan means “the favorite place of the bodhisattva”, which is the closest prairie to Chengdu. Surrounded by snow-capped peaks, Tagong grassland is at an altitude of about 3000 meters to 4000 meters lying beneath the sacred Yala Mountain. The famous Tagong Lamasery, one of the places of pilgrimage for Tibetans in the Kangba area, is the landmark of Tagong. An annual horse racing festival would be held in Tagong and attract thousands of local Tibetan herdsmen, and during the festival, there are also traditional performances.
Xinluhai Lake
Xinluhai lake, at an altitude of 4040 meters, is a famous ice-eroded lake in Ganzi Prefecture. Xinluhai lake and the surrounding ecological environment are original and complete, which can be described as a fairyland.
Hailuogou Glacier Park
Hailuogou Glacier Park is located at the foot of Gongga Mountain and the reason for its worldwide fame lies in the spectacular modern glacier at low altitudes. Hailuogou is the most complete scenic spot in China and travelers could take the round trip by cablecar.
Hot springs are another major feature of Hailuogou, especially in winter, this ice and fire experience is great.
