Liming and Laojunshan

Liming and Laojunshan National Geopark

Located within the UNESCO-protected “Three Parallel Rivers Protection Area” of Lijiang Liming town, Laojunshan offers more than 240 square kilometers of Danxia (spectacular red/purple sandstone formations) landform, which is the largest Danxia landform in southwest China.

It is a red sandstone layer that formed fractures, erosion, and weathering during a strong geological movement, and formed red cliffs, isolated peaks, deep valleys, and other landforms. The landscapes of Laojunshan are the result of a long geological process of more than 50 million years and among them” Qian Gui Mount”(the stone looks like turtle shells) is the most spectacular spot.

For hiking, it takes three hours to the top of the mountain; For convenience, it has a cable car.

Liming also has some of the most famous mountaineering sites in China and the bizarre scenery is worth visiting for those who love nature and adventure.
